Perfectionist by nature and a serial entrepreneur by profession, Sumeeti Mittal, co-founder & director of RoboGalaxy, always had the flair for creating solutions that lead people towards efficient usage of available resources.
With RoboGalaxy, Sumeeti Mittal aims to bring awareness about the science of robotics in school going children of India, so that they can understand and begun to explore the technology at an early age. For a broader use, RoboGalaxy’s program is carefully designed for kids of various age groups.
Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.
RoboGalaxy is pioneer in robotics research and learning solutions. RoboGalaxy offers online robotics course, learning solution, robot designs & projects, technical articles and information bank on robotics through online portal (www.robogalaxy.com). RoboGalaxy also has state of the art academy in India, affiliation with Schools and Colleges, and affiliation with industry & educational Institutes. Our programs are designed indigenously by Research Analysts with expertise in robotics, math, physics, and teaching. The programs are engaging and students learn to design, build and program autonomous robots.
The curriculum focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) while delivering robotics education. RoboGalaxy programs open a gateway into the amazing world of robotics technology and offer an opportunity to expand prospects by gaining exposure to robotic systems in early age. Our programs are carefully tailored for various age groups and skill levels to make sure each student has an enjoyable experience.
What inspired you to build the above product/ service?
During a visit to US, I came across the LEGO programmable robotics kit to develop robots. I bought the kit for my daughters to learn the new technology. They enjoyed learning and playing with it. This stimulated me to start a Robotics company, RoboGalaxy. I wanted to expand the learning to mass, and not limited to only few students having access in specific geography. Through our online portal, we broke the geographic barriers. Currently, we are conducting classes at various schools in India and also at our own academy to build next generation intellects.
What is your life mantra?
Life is easy when you look at half glass full, and not half glass empty. I feel positive attitude results in a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.
What has been the performance of your students?
Students from RoboGalaxy academy have won various awards and recognition. They have represented India in Robotics Competition at International Platform like FLL 2014 (Pamplona, Spain), WRO 2012 (KL, Malaysia), WRO 2013 (Jakarta, Indonesia), WRO 2014 (Sochi, Russia).
What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?
One of our key challenge was to increase robotics awareness at school and college level, and break the notion that robotics is not just about building a car model. Robotics is about how you conceptualize solution for a real life problem, designing the robot, wearing mechanical hat to build the model, and program it.
How did you overcome those challenges?
Our team has been continuously pursuing the schools, colleges, students and parents to educate about this subject. Once this is understood, and people understand the depth of our curriculum, we do not face much of challenge. Results from our academy speaks about the foundation we provide to our students. Students from academy have been National Champions and represented India at International platform in many competition like Robotic Olympiad and FIRST LEGO League. Also we observed students who have undergone these programs have developed their intuitive and reasoning skills far above their counterparts.
How do you protect yourself from the problem of Brain Drain?
At RoboGalaxy, we are developing and educating young minds. But brain drain is a concern faced by our country at large. If you look at any global organization, people with Indian roots are leaders and performing quite well. I believe that government and enterprises should collaborate their efforts and provide a favorable framework for people to expand their horizons and explore opportunities in their homeland itself. This is our attempt at the organization level.
