Rashmmi Khetrapal has accumulated 16+ years of experience in Accounting & Finance. She has held the esteemed post of the Chairperson of the Gurgaon Branch of the NIRC and was also the first lady to be elected as NIRC member of ICAI in 2010-13.
After going through life’s ups and downs, Rashmmi moved to Dubai, where she missed working as a chartered accountant. Standing like a pillar of support, her sons, Vishesh and Nilesh, helped her to set up Visheshagya, which is a one-stop e-commerce portal in the taxation, legal and the accounting space.
What inspired you to build the above product/ service?
It all started when I decided to get out of my abusive marriage, the trauma I suffered during the whole process, where I did not receive enough help from the police or the legal system; I felt harassed and defeated by the whole situation and decided to shift to Dubai. One evening I was discussing my life journey with my kids while sipping a cup of coffee, I also realized that I did not want to leave my clients, I was missing my work! CA’s also have a hectic schedule there are deadlines and not enough holidays, I realized that there are also not enough clients for CAs;
Vishesh who was the in-charge of the entire R&D of the product came across the fact that both males and females go through the same issues and that’s when my elder son, Nilesh came up with this idea of introducing an online platform for white collar professionals.
That night I could not sleep, this revolutionizing thought made me think that why can’t I make life easy for others sailing in the same boat as me and hence came the idea of VISHESHAGYA. Both my sons Nilesh Khetrapal and Vishesh Khetrapal have been equally involved in the whole process of bringing up Visheshagya.
What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?
Starting from being a CEO, Mentor, Guide, Principal and even as a mother, my journey has been demanding. Besides the regular challenges every CEO in the industry faces, I also observed that the situation for a male CEO and female CEO is different wherein the woman is expected to go back home at respectable hour so as to cater to the needs of her family whereas the male CEO is not faced with any such constraints, he can indulge in social networking even after spending long hours at work. Though, I feel privileged enough to have achieved new heights by putting in 16 years of my life’s hard work.
