A true believer of employee empowerment, Puneet approached higher management while working with previous organizations about tips to improve efficiency at work but was warned to work on his attitude and focus on work. To get job satisfaction, he co-founded CodeYeti, which deals in Android App Development, iOS App Development, Digital Marketing and Web Development.
Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.
We took simplifying outsourcing technical service as the real problem & started working on it. Today, we are tagged as one of the most startup friendly companies by our clients, as we deliver products with an average development cycle of 50 days. Our services include Android App Development, iOS App Development, Digital Marketing and Web Development.
What inspired you to build the above product/ service?
I had worked in tech for 4 years before co-founding codeyeti and found their system to be very inefficient. I always believed that my previous organizations could work with 3x the efficiency had the management focused more on employee empowerment and motivated them in the right way. I tried approaching the management with these issues but was instead warned to work on my attitude and focus more on my work. Changing a job also made no difference, that’s when I thought I would have to do something on my own to get satisfaction at work.
What is your life mantra?
I want to build a huge hostel/house for beggars, where they can eat and live with their families. Children will be provided education and adults would be provided various skills training. So that they could be employed somewhere and can ultimately pay the rent and take care of themselves. I think every individual has the right to be empowered to an extend that he/she can makes ends meet.
What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?
The journey was challenging but equally enthralling. While bootstrapping & competing with age old service companies, the only differentiating factors we had were our quality of work and personal touch. Growing from signing our first project from a circle of friends to serving more than 45 startups in the last 11 months, we think we must have done some really nice work. The biggest boost to our confidence is that we haven’t spent a single dime on marketing and all our business comes from the word of mouth.

We are generating enough revenue to run the business. We crossed a revenue of INR 1 cr in 11 months.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?
I think it is the attitude of a person that defines him. If he/she has the right attitude towards solving a problem, then he/she would build any qualities to solve it.

When you run a company, it is the productivity of the organization that counts and in order to do so, I try to keep everyone motivated. I make sure I serve every employee at codeyeti and they take care of our clients.

I talk to so many people but I am still an introvert.

I think not being yourself is something one must avoid. Be yourself and be efficient.

It is very important to build trust. You must trust your people and your people must trust you. Nothing works without trust.
What are your plans for next 3 years?
No plans for the next 3 years. Our plan of action for the next 6 months is to set up a vertical for training. We hire freshers and put them in a rigorous training session for a month and they come back as developers. Now, we are planning to start a training institute where we will impart training to students from top colleges with non-CSE branch and make them competent to get an equally lucrative job.
If you get a chance to start your career again what would you do differently this time?
I have made a lot of mistakes in my career but I believe the mistakes led me to struggle and hence I learned a lot. There is nothing I would like to change.
