Nabanita Neogy has the knack of sales, marketing, quality assurance and risk management. After completing her bachelor’s degree in business and commerce from the University of Calcutta, she started her career as a sales officer. Within a span of few years, she went on to become senior risk officer at an insurance broker company. Here she garnered much-needed expertise in risk assessment and mortgage banking.
However few years down the line, she shifted over to the technology sector and started working as a team lead in an It company. Right from the start, she has been a dedicated person with the aim to make a name for herself. This is why she mulled the idea of launching her own startup after seeing the booming ecommerce industry in India. Bango Kutir Shilpo uses an e-commerce model to collect the diverse heritage of Bengal. They connect local artisans & designers directly to global customers so as to enrich their livelihood, help them to promote their creations and thereby preserving the cultural heritage traditions and values.
Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.
We are trying to promote the Bengali Artisans and their creations to the Global Market. We want to bring out the heritage cultures, traditions and values of our Bengal. The products include self designed apparels, handmade home decors, handmade jewelry, bags and beautiful hand paintings. We have also started the concept, “your creation, our free branding” to the global market.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?
First and foremost, to make the artisans knowledgeable about the e-commerce portal and our mission. Most of them are from rural society, and it’s really hard to make them understand, how we will work and how they will be benefited by our services.
How did you overcome those challenges?
“Good words are worth much, and cost little.” We communicate with them about the transparency and reliability.

Our venture is self-funded till date. We are looking forward to get the funding.
