Three engineering students Divya Upadhyay, Deepika Prabha and Rohit Kashyap founded Hungr.in, an online food portal that emerged out of their previous startup- Delight. After creating the first online cake delivery portal of Patna, the trio observed potential in restaurants discovery and food delivery market and built hungr.in. It is based on subscription-fee revenue model and a little is charged per order too.
Divya, Deepika and Rohit are studying in NIT Patna and have great zeal to explore computer technology in pursuit of online business. After facing several challenges pertaining to convincing restaurateurs and devoting time while studying in college, this young group of entrepreneurs finally got the kickstart. Please provide a brief overview of your product/service.
Hungr.in is an Online Food Portal which aims at providing Restaurant Discovery, Online Food Ordering and Book-a-Table Service. The team behind hungr.in wants to make eating an even more delightful experience. It helps the customers to avail services from restaurants, bakeries and fast food joints listed on the site. Restaurants on the other side get to highlight their special features and increase their reach manifolds.
What inspired you to build the above product/ service?
We found out that most of the restaurant owners are generally apprehensive about coming online and are unaware of the benefits of E-Commerce. It was thus a little difficult to convince them to come online on a new service. Also, publicizing the service to reach maximum people is also not overrated. We were quite hassled by the absence of such a service in Patna. So, we decided to start it ourselves so that others didn’t have to face similar problems.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?
Emerging startups should firstly focus on bringing disruption through their offering. This helps to create a clear road map in the very beginning. Be quick in gauging Market Response and mould your service accordingly as things might turn out to be different then what you had expected. Entrepreneurship is not a hobby; it’s a passion to achieve your dream. There will be many ups and downs in your journey but always believe in yourself. Your passion and motivation for your idea will take you to unprecedented heights.
