Upasna Kakroo, a girl brought up in Kashmir but lived amid multicultural lives while growing up and working in various countries. She co-founded content marketing and branding company, Brandanew, which apparently is the outcome of her passion for ‘stories’. Being an avid reader, she can’t help mention books every now and then. In fact it’s her love for Gulzar and Mirza Ghalib that imbibed passion for content marketing in her.

Upasna has traveled more than 30 counties till now and has gathered diverse experience which makes her more determined and strong as an individual. She is a firm believer of quality and aspires to attain it in every sphere of life. Coming from an enlightened and close-knit background, she calls her family a strength that helps her make toughest decisions. Learn more about this young woman entrepreneur of India ahead.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.

Brandanew is a global Content Marketing agency that works with clients to create compelling content for social consumption and engagement. The agency is committed to creating original content that enables a brand to strengthen their digital footprint and generate authentic brand conversations. Brandanew is based out of Germany and India.

What inspired you to build the above product/ service?

  • The lack of originality in content and rampant plagiarism in online content that I saw
  • The fact that Startups had little or no investment in marketing and specifically content
  • People somehow keep dishing out ugly, non-friendly user design experiences

I wanted to help people change these.

What is your life mantra?

You were born an original, don’t die a copy.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

Hiring the right talent for my remote/global working startup has been the biggest challenge.

How did you overcome those challenges?

Creating better processes on an ongoing basis so that we are at our creative best at all times.

How do you protect yourself from the problem of Brain Drain?

By providing mentorship and a good platform for people to be creative and learn on the job.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?

  • Desire
  • Willingness to learn
  • Have respect for other people

It depends on how success is defined, this is from my perspective

  • Google apps

  • Multiple social media / content tools because we’re in the business of content.

Grow as an organization, work with different industries. Provide storytellers a platform to share their thoughts.

If you get a chance to start your career again what would you do differently this time?

Maybe study art at some point. And play more sports as a school student.

What are your top three getaway destinations ?

You mean travel?

  • Noida, because that’s where my family is
  • Austria because I like hiking and it’s close to us
  • Uttarakhand because we spent several holidays in school there and it’s fun in the hills.
