Sarada always had a knack of doing something big and on her own. Her desire to fulfill her dream brought her to the path of entrepreneurship, which she always desired. Looking the scope of dry fruits industry within India, she co-founded her first startup called Mewamasala. It is a Kolkata based company that offers healthy, tasty, natural dry fruits and spices to the society. Their mission is to provide quality products at right prices.

Within a span of one year, the startup has created a huge buzz in the consumer market. Mewamasala is going through a near vertical growth over the year, driven by the passion and sheer perseverance of Sarada.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.

Our startup (www.MewaMasala.com) is a little different from its kind which aims at providing best dry fruits and spices at the best available prices. But what marks the difference is the custom packing and creativity each order comes with. We offer dry fruits in such an innovative packing that taking it to office as snacks is no longer a health conscious effort but a fun and chic thing to do. Eating and gifting dry-fruits is more of a style statement than just an age-old followed tradition. It can be customized to be gifted for baby showers or return gifts in bday parties, sangeet ceremonies, Holi, Diwali, Eid or Christmas.

What inspired you to build the above product/ service?

I’ve been working in the professional world, earning good for myself but somewhere down the line there was not much time for me… And as a result, my health suffered. So, I took a break after marriage. I wanted to start over. I thought of ways I could reach the youngsters and inspire them to get a better and healthier life. With some research, we found that there was a big scope in the market. I felt that I could bring some youthfulness, some zing and some style into the way dry fruits are perceived. Well. In addition, that is how we started.

What is your life mantra?

Happiness is the highest level of success and only positivity can bring happiness.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

We started from zero but where we stand we have come quite some way and every bit of it was challenging…From designing, procuring, packing, etc… One of the biggest problems is to make people aware of the fact that the dry fruits must be positively included in the diet. People in India, rarely eat dry fruits although it is the powerhouse of ENERGY. It is a big Challenge to include dry fruits in a daily diet.

How did you overcome those challenges?

We have come up with several smart packs that can be easily carried in pockets, Bags, Purse,etc..so that junk foods can be easily alternated by Healthy Nuts.

Share some details about the investments that you have been able to fetch for the business till now.

Presently it is a self-Funded Business….But soon we are planning to expand.

How do you protect yourself from the problem of Brain Drain?

Every Brain Drain is a step towards the fresh Innovative brain.
