They came with ample experience from several different startups. Driven by ingenuity they came along to solve the genuine problem of laundry. Prior to starting Aapka Dhobi, Nidhish Patni worked for TaxiForSure, Accenture and Ernst & Young. Rohit Raj also had gained substantial expertise with his stint at TaxiForSure and Deloitte. While Neeraj Kumar had worked for Ola, Wipro and BPCL; Veenet Ramchandani gained his expertise at Ernst & Young.
Nidhish used to regularly have this conversation with the rest of the founders about his problem of laundry due to travel. This is where all of them brainstormed together and came up with an idea to launch Aapka Dhobi. It is an on-demand laundry service where users can have their dirty laundry cleaned within 48 hours.
Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.
We are an online laundry service marketplace in Bangalore and aggregating local laundry shops on our platform. A customer can schedule a wash using website or a call for a desired time (We are in process of developing our app too) and avail any of our services. We deliver the clothes back to the customers in 2 days time. Affordability, convenience and quick turn around time help us to differentiate.
What inspired you to build the above product/ service?
I have been in Bangalore for over 1.5 years was a frequent traveler in my earlier job. I always had this pain of getting my own laundry done. Either I have to do it on my own or be dependent on maid’s timings or even after washing it in washing machine, the unexpected Bangalore rains used to spoil everything. After taking all the above efforts, I still had to give the clothes out for Ironing where the guy used to take another couple of days to return. So I thought why not to make it an end-to-end painless process! I discussed this idea with other founders and they were on for this!
What is your life mantra?
I keep it simple. I want to make peoples’ life convenient & easy. And I always think of various ways how I can do that.
What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?
At Aapka Dhobi, we aggregate local laundry players on our platform. The biggest challenge was to make them understand the potential of the industry and how a new way of thinking and working towards it can revolutionize the space.
How did you overcome those challenges?
We worked with them, gave them support and made them understand why working on a new model would benefit them. Spent considerable amount of time on their concerns. And now, they are happy to work on this.

One tip to success:
Don’t just accept the things as they are! If you think they can be changed or bettered, do it!
One mistake you believe every individual must avoid:
I would say, celebrate small wins but don’t get carried away with them. To reach to ultimate destination, constant efforts with full enthusiasm are required.
One most important lesson that you have learnt till now:
Accept mistakes, learn to say “No” at appropriate times.
What are your plans for next 3 years?
Washing clothes is a necessity for each and every individual and hence this makes Laundry industry one of the biggest space. We aspire to have each and every individual on our platform next 3-5 years. Laundry should never be considered as a household chore in the future.
