Having worked with a major steel manufacturer as research analyst & strategist, where helped his organization to bring down the operating cost, HanishAgarwal has a natural instinct to make things better. Now with his entrepreneurial initiative Camelport, Hanish is determined to revolutionize the surface cargo industry in India by automatizing it with technology.

Camelport allows freight careers to integrate their service with e-commerce platforms via its website so that they can manage contracts, quotations, & sales in a swift & convenient way. Camelport also offers fleet owners multifaceted vehicle tracking & remote controlling to monitor their entire fleet.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.

At Camelport Logistics, we are attempting to revolutionize the billion dollar surface cargo industry in India, which is the backbone of supply chain, by automating sales.

We have implemented technology that allows truckers to manage contracts, quotations and sales process from their own secure accounts. Our platform lets freight carriers integrate with a customer ­facing e-commerce solution on a reliable and toddler friendly website, so shippers can generate instant quotes, book transit insurance and streamline their logistics needs.

Along with a composite solution to all sales woes, Camelport provides the carriers with a multifaceted vehicle tracking solution, basically handing them a remote ­control to monitor their entire fleet.

 What inspired you to build the above product/ service?

 I have spent time working with industrial establishments engaged in steel manufacturing and trade. I further explored trade opportunities available globally and was able to identify a new market and open a channel of communication for exports to the recently liberalized Myanmar. While working on this project, I realized that the state of logistics in this country resulted in the inability of most SME’s to explore newer markets.

What is your life mantra?

My core strategy is to keep the learning process ongoing.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

The most challenging part is to provide this sector with a structure.

 How did you overcome those challenges?

We did our ground work, worked with fragmented fleet operators and understood the needs of the fleet owners of shippers across India. Every part of our technology is built with a consumer-centric approach. We still continue to learn and develop. I am always in awe of the extent of opportunities available in this sector.

 Share some details about the investments that you have been able to fetch for the business till now.

We have received $100,000 to build technology required to sustain this model.

How do you protect yourself from the problem of Brain Drain?

We have built a culture that promotes everyone here explore and come up with brilliant things. We don’t push any specific work but offer our employees the opportunity to choose what they would like to work on. This ideology has worked for us so far.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?

Passion, determination, and ability to keep learning

 Which online tools/ services/ apps do you use the most and would like to recommend as well?

We use a wide range of tools. We focus on building technology that is still unexplored while ancillary functionality is done through integration with thirds party resources already available. One of the most used tools around here is Slack.

One thing I have really learnt is to intensively research before starting off something. We live between extreme diversity and it is impossible to predict an outcome of a product without adequate research.

 What are your plans for next 3 years?

We are very soon planning to open offices in Delhi and later in Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Visakhapatnam.
