Get Noticed on Amazon

Seller Labs helps to improve Amazon sales with their cloud-based tools for e-commerce businesses to source, sell, and provide customer service. Their mission is to empower businesses of all sizes with the tools they need to succeed, provide excellent support and service, and always push to make things better. Seller Labs do all of this with custom coding, heroic customer service, and illustrious industry content.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/service?

Seller Labs is a SaaS company and agency. We also own X-Cart, a one-stop solution for your eCommerce needs that has something to offer to all businesses, regardless of the size. We offer self-service software called PRO that is packed with features to help Amazon sellers succeed. We also offer an agency option where we can run the advertising for you. This includes Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, and other such websites.

What inspired you to build the above product/service?

In 2013, our founder Brandon Checketts realized that there was no product in the market that could help in increasing the efficiency of selling on Amazon. He was selling used books at that time and was unable to find a solution according to his needs; he wanted the follow-up with his Amazon shoppers to be automated. He built his first product, Feedback Genius, practically overnight. It was built out of necessity but the success he achieved in it prompted him to offer it to other sellers. To this day, more Amazon sellers trust our automated messaging tool than any other software. And while the features and tools have changed, the inspiration has remained the same. We want to help eCommerce sellers find efficient and profitable ways to be successful and grow their brand!

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

The eCommerce ecosystem is in a constant state of flux, ever evolving. Trends change and what worked one day might not work the next. The most challenging part of our journey is, and will always be, is to make sure we are offering the best solution for sellers right now. While it may be challenging, it’s also incredibly rewarding. To meet this challenge we need to have the right people (which we do!) and we have to be constantly learning new things and also perfecting the art of predicting where we need to be headed.

How did you overcome initial mindset challenges?

A voice in your head will always tell you that it won’t work or that you are wrong. Our story is no different but thankfully we were able to work past those feelings and look at the facts. Selling on Amazon and eCommerce in general, is the future and we want to continue being thought as leaders and innovators in that space. For that, we will have to continually produce ideas. We might encounter new roadblocks or even a fear of failure, but we choose to view these as opportunities for growth and a new chance to succeed. When we do fail, and we have, we learn from it and we get a little better at it the next time. No secret formulas here. Any success that we’ve had is just a repetition of trying, failing, learning, succeeding, and growing.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?

Any successful person needs to be one thing: F.A.T. They need to be Faithful to whatever it is they are currently doing because they will face 1000 reasons each day to give up and do something “easier” or more comfortable. They need to be available to new opportunities and give their endeavors the space they need to become successful. They also need to be Teachable. If there is one thing that we have learned, it’s that there is always something new to learn. You want to make sure you are never the smartest person in the room and then take advantage of that. Ask questions, grab a coffee, sit down for a meal. Absorb as much as you can and then be willing to do the same for someone else.

What is your life mantra?

Just keep swimming.

Which online tools/ services/ apps do you use the most and would like to recommend as well?

Our team lives in the Google Suite of tools and with the world being so virtual now, it’s even more vital to our everyday lives. We also love SEMrush!

Share any one habit which you think makes you more productive.

Rest. It’s so simple and feels counterintuitive to being productive but it’s the best habit you can form. Learn when to say no and when it’s okay to step away and when you do step away, let yourself fully step away. Resting allows you to be more engaged and productive when you are back at it.

Share any one habit which you wish to change in yourself.

For sure my morning routine. It’s not that I don’t have a dream routine written down but it’s the execution and the set-up. I once heard a good morning routine starts the night before and that requires me to get to bed at a decent hour and to stop watching New Girl. It’s my kryptonite.

What are your plans for the next 3 years?

The plan is to continue growing with eCommerce and becoming an even better resource to sellers than we already are. I want to continue to make Seller Labs and X-Cart a thought leader in this space and a trusted resource. This means listening to tough feedback and making adjustments when needed. This also means implementing the F.A.T model as I had mentioned before and it means being a “good neighbour”. I want to help bring a sense of belonging and community among eCommerce sellers and help build them a space to exist. Three years from now if anyone who knows me says that they felt heard and seen and that I was able to help solve even one problem that they were facing, I would call that a win.

If you get a chance to start your career again what would you do differently this time?

I would ask better questions and I wouldn’t let fear of inadequacy drive my career decisions. That’s it. That’s the whole answer.

What are your top three getaway destinations?

The first one is my absolute favourite place in the US: Nashville, Tennessee. The second one has got to go to the number one place I want to visit soon: Ireland. The third one goes to Disney World (Do not @ me, I am not a Disney Adult but I enjoy escaping reality just as much as the next guy)

Share a quote that inspires you the most.

Not a quote, but a phrase that keeps me going and motivated on any given day. “DDHD: Dreams Don’t Have Deadlines”.
