Amresh Ojha, an avid fitness enthusiast and an entrepreneur at heart, did his master’s degree from Indian Institute of Management. During that time, when his friend required a personal trainer, he realized that it was very difficult to find one.
Upon researching further, he also realized that it was even more difficult to find a good fitness center. This realization led him to start Gympik, an online fitness discovery platform. Started in 2013, Gympik receives over 1,00,000 monthly visitors. It has more than 9,000 fitness centers and 5000 fitness professionals signed up, making it one of the largest online fitness discovery platform in India.
Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.
Gympik is efficiently determining the way people look at fitness and wellness. The purpose that led to this foundation was to make fitness and wellness accessible to people from every nook and corner of the country. We are on a mission to touch lives of people by connecting them to most convenient ways of leading fit and healthy lives. Gympik’s rapid expansion attests the unstoppable vigor we have to bring you closer to the wellness you deserve. We strive to make your life simpler, smarter and healthier by making you discover your inner beauty. As of 2016, Gympik has listed more than 9000 fitness and wellness centers and 5000 personal trainers from all over India. We are also working on few innovative ideas which includes a cloud based analytics platform for fitness centers, app based diet counseling, and personal training.
What inspired you to build the above product/ service?
The idea was conceived when one of my friends required a personal trainer, and it was quite difficult to find one. I realized it was not just personal trainers; finding a good fitness centre is an equally painful job. This gap between demand and supply led to the business idea of starting an aggregator site for fitness centers
What is your life mantra?
Chase your passion. Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.
What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?
Gympik is a passion driven company. During our interview process, I always look for people who share the same passion. It was really tough to put a kickass team in place. We have crossed this hurdle now.
How did you overcome those challenges?

Share some details about the investments that you have been able to fetch for the business till now.
We raised a seed round of funding within a year of our incorporation from a group of angel investors.
How do you protect yourself from the problem of Brain Drain?
Our company is complete passion driven and we all share the same passion. In last two and half years our attrition rate is almost zero percent.
According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?
Understand the importance of time. Maintain a good physical and mental health. Spend time with your family.

Every morning I just recall what I did yesterday and what I have to do today.

I spend at least two hours in gym everyday lifting heavy weights. I may cut it short a little and spend more time with my kid.

I will start something in Agriculture. It’s something which is very close to my heart.
