You miss every shot you don't take

Alejandro Rioja is a growth-oriented marketer who loves everything about digital marketing. He is the chairman of Flux Ventures,  a holding company that owns Future Sharks, Flux Chargers, Flux.LA and a series of popular websites. Being a successful entrepreneur at such a young age, Alejandro Rioja aims to start a crypto startup and scale it successfully.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/service?

Futuresharks.com is a platform that features entrepreneurs from all over the world and walks of life. We have covered some amazing success stories, even of those entrepreneurs who launched successful startups in fields that were quite different from their past experiences.

What inspired you to build the above product/ service?

I have always had a passion for learning about entrepreneurs and reading their case studies. With future sharks, I wanted to develop a site where startup owners and entrepreneurs are able to share their stories with the hope that our readers will get inspired. What entrepreneurs find valuable about our platform is that they get exposure to new fans from new geographies. One day we might feature a social entrepreneur from Italy and then the next a tech leader from China or a female entrepreneur in the US. It’s really exciting for me to read their stories and insights.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

Tasks delegation! In the beginning, I would try to single-handedly manage all my projects that would eventually lead to emotional fatigue.

How did you overcome initial mindset challenges?

It took me some time to realize that if I really want to scale my business, I should learn the art of ruthless prioritization and delegation.  I gradually began developing a team and started simplifying my projects through pre-planning and using a couple of great workflow management tools like Coda, Airtable, and Asana.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?

Consistency— If you want to be the master of your art, practice it more often with no excuses

Discipline— Discipline always keeps you one step ahead from others because it’s a way to organize your day and thoughts.

Self-learning– If you are unsure about anything, simply Google it!

A lot of us get stuck with a “million-dollar idea”, but such an idea doesn’t become a million-dollar idea until you actually start executing on it. So the first step is to just take the first step, and then the next one, and the next one after that.

What is your life mantra?

For me, success is about responding to opportunities. You should be smart enough to know which ones will further your goals. I have worked my way to success by not being hesitant of taking a shot, doing things, and being a go-getter. That’s a key to growth for sure!

Which online tools/ services/ apps do you use the most and would like to recommend as well?

CODA, Airtable, Asana! These services have made project management and collaboration super easy for me and my team!

Share any one habit which you think makes you more productive.

Great question! Wake up early, meditate, and get on with the day.  I prioritize my tasks the night before so I know what to tackle first and try to hit my high-impact tasks head on.

What are your plans for the next 3 years?

To start a crypto startup and scale it successfully!

If you get a chance to start your career again what would you do differently this time?

I am sure I’d continue being an entrepreneur instead of an employee
