Akshay Ahuja, a young engineer who hails from Ludhiana has an ambition in life, to not just be a successful professional as any of his age, but also bring about a change in the education system of the country.

Through his start-up, Robotics Education World (REW), he aims to make a turnaround in the field of education, by giving students the exposure and engaging them in practical sessions.Akshay also plans set up research centers for kids and 5 schools for slums in the next three years.

Please provide a brief overview about yourself& Robotics Event?

I am working to fulfill my aim to revolutionize our Indian Education System. Started with an intention to make science fun and also to bring the changes in Indian Education System – Robotics Education World is making Robotics fun for students at all levels. I founded Robotics Education World in 2013 when I was in my 3rd year and has trained over 12000 Students in Schools on Robotics. Started in 2013 with the intention to train only Engineering Students, the company trained only 29 students. I realized that the workshops that were drafted for Engineering Level Students, if modified a bit, can also interest school children. On researching, I realized that the education system doesn’t encourage students to explore. To test this observation, I trained 1 student who happened to got himself registered in INDIA BOOK OF RECORDS for creating his own LINE FOLLOWING ROBOT and this gave RoboChamps (Robotics Education World) the much-needed boost.

Seeing the success of Workshops in schools and the response of children, Robotics Education World Team wanted to take it to a higher level and bring it to everyone’s attention that science is not boring and everyone can work on Robots. It was then, the idea of BUILD YOUR BOT, came, where over 20000 school kids will share a stage this year in India’s first ever Robotics Show. The event is supported by Chitkara University as an Education Partner. Robotics Education Worlds Team is conducting various workshops in Schools all over India to encourage Kids & Teacher to participate in this record-breaking event. The event is divided into four levels namely: ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA & OMEGA. Each level is a stepping stone to the previous level and is linked to the concept of STEM. Students have to clear each level to be able to participate in the final event. Robotics Education World Team will be providing extensive hands-on practice to these students participating in the event.

What this event is all about?

The event, Build Your Bot (BYB), will be an attempt to find a place in Guinness Book of World Records. Through this event, 20,000 kids will share one stage from all across India. Over 500 children from other countries are also expected to be a part of the event. We are inviting some schools from Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, USA, and many more countries. Some of the prominent Indian cities from where students will be participating include Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Solan, Shimla, Ambala, Panipat, Faridabad, Gurgaon, New Delhi, and Chennai besides others.” The vision of this breakthrough event is to strengthen skilled future of technocrats by making practical education an integral part of their learning at an early age.
