In a time & age, when people are buying pretty much everything online, making medicines available to shop online makes obvious sense. But so far e-commerce development in this sector has been minimal. Recognizing this gap, a team of students, led by AdvikUmamaheshwarn&MayankRajoria, launched Pharmart – an online platform where people can  order medicines and get them delivered from their nearest medical store.

Within a month of their launch, they have made several hundred customers and have a well-mapped-out plan for future. Considering their ambition and vision, this team of student entrepreneurs might be repeating the stories of Bill Gates & Mark Zuckerberg, but without dropping out of the college.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.

Our startup Pharmart provides a hassle free medical shopping experience right at your fingertips. We have created a unique model wherein our users order medicines from our mobile app.Users may either upload their prescriptions or enter their products manually. The order details are then sent to the nearest partner pharmacy to fulfil the order as soon as possible.

What inspired you to build the above product/ service?

Studying in Engineering Colleges we learnt one thing that it is very simple to get food and cigarettes just outside the campus but not medicines. As many of the hostels are situated more inside the campuses it becomes a tedious task for every hostler to get their medicines when they are in need. And this problem is the same with residences. We at pharmart have taken up this initiative to overcome this problem.

What is your life mantra?

Get out of your comfort zone.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

Our team is spread geographically in many cities. We, co-founders of Pharmart, are studying in Manipal and Delhi, our graphic designer, content writer, marketing and other teams are in Mumbai, Patiala, Bangalore etc. Moreover, we are still students in our 3rd year of engineering. Our limited experience and time management between studies and the startup has been quite challenging. Despite this, we have launched our product and have grown to several 100s of users within a month of launch!

How did you overcome those challenges?

By distributing the work. Being a CSE student at IIT Delhi, I have been able to look after our IT development, while my partners focusing mainly on marketing and customer acquisition. I found managing time to be a necessity to be able to manage both my academics and startup together.

Share some details about the investments that you have been able to fetch for the business till now.

We have bootstrapped our startup till now. We believe that it is important to have a startup that can survive from its own revenue. We are focussing on creating a value for our customers rather than going after valuation.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?

1) Discipline 2) Devotion 3) Determination

Which online tools/ services/ apps do you use the most and would like to recommend as well?

We use Pharmart for medicines when we are ill, Trello for team discussions and Skype for our meetings.

Share any one habit which you think makes you more productive.

I think working out and exercising regularly is important and helps me think clearly. It also provides a much-needed change in the busy daily schedule.

In our journey till now, I have realised the great importance of a team. We try to find the best people, who understand our vision, to do the task. This team building aspect is really important.

What are your plans for next 3 years?

Our services are currently only in Navi Mumbai and Manipal. In the near future, we are planning to roll out to whole of Mumbai. Ultimately we aim to become the one stop destination for all Indians to get their medicines in minutes.

If you get a chance to start your career again what would you do differently this time?

I and my partners are both currently in our 3rd year of engineering. This startup is the first step in our careers and we believe we are doing well.

What are your top three getaway destinations?

Lonavala, Goa and Jaipur
