In India, there is no dearth of job search portals. But sadly, every platform is packed with a lot of clutter that it has become difficult for even qualified job seekers to find the job of their choice; similarly, it has is difficult for companies to find right candidates.

After coming back from the US in 2012, Aditya Rajgarhia couldn’t digest the India’s ‘organized, yet not so organized’ online job search sector. Aditya, who is a MS from Stanford University and had worked in the US as a software engineer before coming to India, had some fresh ideas to make Indian online job search market more useful.

In 2014, he finally launched Instahyre, a career marketplace to connect the best talent with tech companies in India. Within 2 years of its inception, Instahyre has acquired an impressive list of clients and has firm plans for growth in coming years.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.

Instahyre is a platform where the top 2% of talent and companies meet each other. We make recruitment faster and better. Traditional platforms like Naukri and LinkedIn have too much noise. As a result, a job-seeker is inundated with thousands of irrelevant job postings or spammed by recruitment agencies, while companies are unable to hone in on the right candidate despite spending a lot of time and effort. At Instahyre we’ve built a matching engine using machine learning algorithms that provides companies with candidates who are the right fit and are actively interested in new opportunities. We also focus on premium talent, and have the largest pool of active job-seekers from colleges like the IITs. Instahyre is already used by 400+ tech companies in India including the likes of Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Uber, etc. We have helped hundreds of people find their perfect jobs at top companies.

What inspired you to build the above product/ service?

Job search and hiring has always been very inefficient. Companies are constantly complaining about the lack of relevant talent, while on the other hand even qualified job-seekers are unable to find their perfect jobs.

Existing recruitment products basically just throw a large number of unqualified candidates at the company. So at Instahyre we’ve built technology that matches only the right candidates to each job, ensuring that companies are able to hire with ease and job-seekers discover great companies.

What is your life mantra?

There is no substitute for hard work if you want to create an impact; be it via your business or personally.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

For me personally the most challenging part was to adapt to the work culture in India, having spent many years in the US previously. In the US, people are used to responsibilities from a young age, while in India that’s not the case so a different approach is needed when working with people, be it customers or employees.

How did you overcome those challenges?

Olympian Jesse Owens once said, “Muscles are just pieces of rubber, mind is everything”. Moving from the US to India, understanding the local market and creating a product that companies find value in was a challenging task. I believe that taking small steps and constantly improving the product for the customer is key.
